A juried exhibit by current art students at CLC featuring: painting, drawing, computer graphics, photography, ceramics, jewelry, and sculpture. The CLC Student Activities Office sponsors cash Merit Awards. The Lake County Art League sponsors two $500 scholarships for art students.

Kathy Weaver & Mary Seyfarth: Whimsical Musings
Kathy Weaver presents fiberworks and paintings that are at an intersection between technology and art. Mary Seyfarth displays ceramics and small sculptures. Seyfarth is the chairperson of the Ceramics Department at Columbia College. Both artists reside in Lake County, Illinois.

Dave Engle & Ed Hinkley: Landscape and Memory
Dave Engle of Barrington will exhibit landscape drawings and paintings that are inspired from his backpacking explorations. Chicagoan Ed Hinkley’s landscape works represent what remains of the land at the end of an age of human occupation.

Ted Neal & Charity Davis-Woodard: Ceramics
Ted Neal, an art professor at Ball State University, deals with the proliferation of the objects of industry andn mass production reformatted into ceramic vessels. Charity Davis-Woodard of Edwardsville, IL creates utilitarian ceramic pieces using organic forms and bright contrasting colors.

Recent Works: A Juried Competition
This 28th annual competition includes all fine art media and is open to all artists who reside or work in Lake County. Approximately $2,000 will be presented in cash prizes and purchase awards for the college’s art collection.

David Gista: Fictions
David Gista is a French painter who resides in Chicago. Gista paints figures in libraries between the confining spaces of imposing shelves of books. His work explores the idea of isolation and alienation.

Preston Jackson: Bronze Castings
Peoria sculptor Preston Jackson is a professor at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago. He will exhibit figurative bronze castings that depict the lives and personalities of southern African-Americans of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Jackson’s works are statements against racism, war, sexism, violence, and injustice.

Beth Shadur & Gabriella Boros: Works on Paper
Beth Shadur of Highland Park, Illinois works in mixed media on paper. Her Tikkun Olam series (Hebrew for “heal the world”), looks at the image and iconography of the hand as it is used in world cultures to express healing and prayer. Gabriella Boros is from Skokie, Illinois and works in acrylic on paper. Boros’ paintings are visual narratives that are both social and political observations.
